Badder than the BassMasters... (cont.
from front)
Have
you gone fishing this summer, maybe for the first time in a while? New
to fishing? Maybe a relative took you and taught you, but you never
seem to catch fish. Live in the Chicagoland area and interested in local
fishing seminars that are enexpensive? If there is one yes out of that
group, you may want to attend one of the Chicago Anglers Club outtings.
We meet twice a month and offer an on shore seminar regarding
the water we are about to fish targeting mutliple species. The main
goal of this club is teaching people how to fish and getting more people
out fishing and enjoying our local outdoors.
There are no excuses for not catching fish around here. You dont
need fancy, special equipment and you dont have to be an expert.
After the seminars, we feature a friendly competition. While
this is sport, it is not life and death. Our club founders and local
fishing gurus will be available to help you before and even during the
competition.
If you are hard-core or have seen fishing competitions and want to compete-
bring it on. There are many levels of angler from brand new anglers
who catch one or two fish to anglers who have competed locally and at
World Championship level that fish our club. After every competition,
the best part is the weigh-in. All fish caught are weighed and then
released on the spot so EVERYONE gets a great show and gets to see the
fish that are in our local lake.
Whats that? You think there arent that many fish in our
lakes? Secret is out, there are 1,000s of fish in every lake around
Chicago- you just have to fish with what they want to eat! Recent weights
from our club events include bags of 26 lb. of fish, 14 lb. of blue
gills and local club fishing results have even seen weights of 75 lb.
of fish as well as 512 blue gills caught in 4 hours & 44 lb. bags
of bluegills! This is 4 hours of fishing the way it was meant to be.
Fish flying through the air, soaking wet clothes and a fishing shoot-out
like no other fishing in the US.
On TV competitions, you might see them swing in one or two fish on heavy
line, we consistently CRUSH their weights and catches. What you see
on TV is the result of 2 days pre-fishing and then 24 hours of fishing
over 3 days. The winning weight of this years Bassmaster Classic
was 37 lb. 14 oz. Our club fishes 4 hours on little local lakes and
ponds and in just 4 hours we have had weights exceed 25 lb. If you do
the math, we would be weighing in 150 lb. over 3 days from waters like
the Fox River or a little park pond in Downers grove- FROM SHORE! One
of our newest anglers was on a pace to break 66 lb. over the three day
time period!
TV fishing shows are even worse. Midwest Outdoors is the best of them,
but the others feature fishing from far-away places. Fishing shows should
show you fish that you can catch around your homes, not some exotic
bass that lives in Mexico! You will learn more at this club than you
could from watching 10 years of fishing shows (with no commercials even!).
Stop the nagging feeling of going fishing and seeing no fish caught!

A club for Learning
& Fishing...
The
Chicago Anglers Club features local fishing competition with club
members from the near West Suburbs and surrounding area. Our purpose
is to make use of local outdoors venues and to continue the improvement
of the Forest Preserves, local parks and waters within the region.
People shouldnt have to travel out of state to fish and families
should learn to fish our local waters and have success.
Our club serves also to teach local anglers techniques for fishing
local waters and to have success. Regular fishing seminars and workshops
will be the feature of our fishing club featuring members of the U.S.
fishing team and local experts, teaching, speaking and educating others
in the art of techniques, strategies and methods used in finesse bank
angling.
All fish count in our club which makes The Chicago Anglers club
a little different than the run of the mill single species club. By
catching fish within a time period, placing them in submerged keep nets
and weighing all the fish after the competition, the days success
will depend sometimes on most fish and other days on biggest fish caught
or a combination of the two. This exciting, educational competitive
angling brings something new to local club fishing. Some clubs compete,
some clubs teach, but few clubs are formed to provide both teaching
to beginners and competition to skilled anglers.
Our club welcomes all anglers from 12 years of age, male and female
to fish our matches. A special rule will allow a parent to fish with
their daughter or son during the competition as well. Providing a family
fishing atmosphere within competition is good for everyone.
