US Open Continued
from page 1
Entrance
fee is $20 and preregistration is highly recommended by contacting
the CBA at fishcba.com.
This lake figures
to be a puzzle to competitor's who will come in from several different
states. In years past, anglers from as far as England competed to
be the best bank angler in the US. If you are coming to watch the
events, you will see many fish flying through the air with the use
of 40 foot poles as well as 14 foot rods! The winner of the US Open
will be the angler that catches the most weight of fish on his/her
section of the lake. Those with low points on day for catching the
biggest weights (all fish count towards weight), will attempt to
do it two days in a row.
Towards the
end of the morning you will hear a whistle ending the competition.
All poles will come out of the water and then a weighing in will
take place behind each competitor's spot on the bank. You can come
and see all the different fish that were caught as anglers keep
the fish in "live keep nets" in the water. This is great
for kids to see as well! US Coach and 5-Time World Championship
Medal Winner, Mick Thill is scheduled to compete with other top
anglers.
Complete
event coverage and results will be available in our news section.

Tired
of a few teeny bass?
Ever get that feeling like you keep buying and don't catch- ya I
used to. Think your Bass show and TV stars can help you catch fish
locally- wrong! All the stuff they sell you caught you. Don't deny
it, you have a tackle box or 2 full of the latest and greatest.
Truth is you can't catch a fish to save you life. $1,000s of dollars
later you are left with that bad taste in your mouth trip after
fishing trip. They weren't biting, no big ones, too sunny, too windy,
sound like your trip- sad. Bill Dance told you his stuff would catch
a lot and so did Babe & Jimmy. Hmmm, see a trend. You need to
get back to fishing my friend and let the TV stars fantasy fish.
Casting is not fishing!
I
started fishing competitions from shore and realized, there is more
to fishing that wetting some imitation plastic and wood with hooks
on it. Have you ever caught 100 fish? Have you ever caught over
100 fish an hour? How about 512 in 4 hours. We challenge you to
bring your sorry rod & reel out and give us a go. My guess is
that even our junior member will beat you by a bunch. Heck- I will
even take you on without using a reel!
